At Vision Care Associates, we’re proud participants in the InfantSEE® program, a public health initiative managed by the American Optometric Association. This program provides no-cost vision assessments for infants between 6 and 12 months of age, regardless of income or insurance coverage.
You might be surprised to learn that a baby’s visual development begins well before their first birthday. During this time, their eyes and brain are rapidly learning to work together, building the foundation for tracking, depth perception, and focus. Problems with vision can go undetected without symptoms, so an early eye exam is an important step in protecting your child’s long-term visual and developmental health.
Our doctors are specially trained to evaluate visual function and eye health in non-verbal patients using gentle, non-invasive techniques. During your baby’s visit, we will assess:
Visual acuity and clarity
Eye alignment and movement
Pupil responses and tracking
General eye health and early signs of potential issues like high prescriptions, lazy eye (amblyopia), or eye turns (strabismus)
The screening is quick, safe, and designed to keep your baby comfortable throughout the process.
The earlier a problem is caught, the better the outcome. By having your baby screened under the InfantSEE® program, you’re giving them the best possible start toward clear vision, learning readiness, and lifelong eye health.
